ANNUAL SPRING CHURCH OF CHRIST CONTENDING for the FAITH LECTURESHIP
Beginning on the final Sunday in February of each year and ending on the following Wednesday evening, a Bible lectureship is conducted. Each series of lectures presents faithful gospel preachers from churches of Christ across the nation. Various topics are covered under a general theme each year. A lecture book, MP3 CD's and DVD's of the lectures are produced each year. We urge our students to attend this lectureship or to acquire a book, CD or DVD.

Truth Bible Institute Announces Changes
TBI Changes From Trimester to Quarter System
Since its beginning TBI has followed the trimester system in offering its courses, but after careful consideration of student needs, we have decided to change from the trimester system to the quarter system. This change will become effective with the beginning of the fall quarter of the 2009/2010 school year. Each quarter will consist of ten (10) weeks of course study. The new student application deadline for the 2009 Fall quarter of TBI is September 1, 2009. The Fall registration for classes begins on September 17 and ends on September 30. Course studies will begin on October 1 and end on December 10.
Check the new TBI Annual Calendar to view the important quarterly dates for the school year.
Change to New Approach in Course Studies at TBI
Under TBI’s previous trimester system each course required the instructor to orally deliver a certain amount of lectures per course of instruction. TBI has elected to follow the tutorial approach in each course offered. This means that the course instructor will now serve in the capacity of a tutor/mentor (hereafter TM) for the students. This change means that the TM will guide the student through the course of study by involving him in directed readings, independent research, term papers, reports and/or other projects in order to immerse the student in the information necessary for him to arrive at competency in the subject under study. Of course, tests may also be used by the TM to help assess the progress of the student in his studies. Oral lectures are not entirely ruled out for the simple reason that the nature of some courses (such as New Testament Greek) demand that the TM orally present much of that material. As to the mode of imparting the information in any given course, such is left to the discretion of the TM. After all, it must be remembered that it is the student that must do the studying in order to gain the level of knowledge necessary for passing the course.
The student will be given a course syllabus for each course. It will be his guide through the course. By following the syllabus the student will be informed as to where he must be in his studies by the end of each week of the ten week quarter. Thus, self-discipline is of the utmost importance. Falling behind in any course of study in most cases is a fatal mistake for acquiring the knowledge necessary for a passing grade. Each student must remember their other obligations and time restraints, if any, before enrolling in any course offered by TBI.
